Environmental Protection Network

The Environmental Protection Network (EPN) has staff and 550+ EPA alumni volunteers who provide probono technical assistance to disadvantaged communities, NGOs, and under-resourced state/local/tribal government agencies. EPN assists in navigating EPA, regulatory processes, federal policies, grant programs, and publicly available data. Areas of volunteer expertise include air, water, toxic substances, hazardous waste, and just about any issue that EPA works on. Volunteers can help review environmental impact statements and permits, provide information on EPA regulations and policies, assist in assembling grants, and more. If you have any questions or would like assistance, please reach out to Community Outreach Associate Jamie Zwaschka at jamie.zwaschka@environmentalprotectionnetwork.org or 206-819-1182.

Here is more information about the two EPA Environmental Justice Grants that recently came out that we mentioned: EPA recently announced $100 million for environmental justice grants—the largest amount ever offered by EPA—to help underserved and overburdened communities. Applications are due April 10, 2023. EPA has published two Requests for Applications for this funding through the Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement Program (EJCPS) and the Environmental Justice Government-to-Government Program (EJG2G). To help applicants, EPA has hosted and will continue to host webinars: Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement Program (EJCPS) Recording of the January 24, 2023 EJCPS webinar (Passcode:85564988) Slides from the January 24, 2023 EJCPS webinar (pdf) (780.08 KB) Environmental Justice Government-to-Government Program (EJG2G) Recording of the January 26, 2023 EJG2G webinar (Passcode: 42015614) Slides from the January 26, 2023 EJG2G webinar (795.05 KB).

Recognizing both the requirements for and encouragement of partnerships for both of these applications, the Environmental Protection Network (EPN) created surveys and real-time public results so that eligible entities and partners can reach out to one another and connect: Environmental Justice Collaborative Problem-Solving Cooperative Agreement Program (EJCPS) EJCPS potential partners survey EJCPS potential partners survey results (please use this list to reach out to potential partners). Environmental Justice Government-to-Government Program (EJG2G) EJG2G potential partners survey EJG2G potential partners survey results (please use this list to reach out to potential partners).
