Job Description and Duties
Are you familiar with Database software like Oracle, Access, or similar programs and have a passion for performing surveys, collecting data and preparing research reports? Do you enjoy traveling and working in different communities? In this position at CalRecycle, you will conduct field surveys and collect data for various calculations and research reports in support of setting Refund Values per Pound and Containers per Pound Rates for the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act (Act). These rates determine how much consumers and various collection programs receive for redeemed CRV beverage containers.

CalRecycle’s Division of Recycling administers the $1.4 billion Beverage Recycling Program. The Recycling Program Operations Branch supports local sustainability and policy efforts through the collection, management and analysis of data, trend analysis, and forecasting. The incumbent will travel to program participant sites to gather and analyze data relating to recycling and redemption volumes and redemption material market shares.
Travel is throughout California and up to 75% staff time is required to perform field surveys and data collection. Travel will include extended periods (typically 4-5 days at a time) requiring overnight accommodations and weekend assignments that will require an adjustment to the employee's work schedule.
