    Two Scholarships Now Available! Spring is right around the corner, and with warmer months brings  Women's History Month (March)  and the annual APA  National Planning Conference , this year hosted in  Minneapolis  from April 13-16 and online May 8-10! Scholarships We have two, open scholarship opportunities available for Division members.  The  NPC Diversity Scholarship Application  is meant to encourage a diversity of planners to participate in divisions, starting as early as possible in their professional journey. To support these goals, the APA Divisions Council has established the Diversity Scholarship Program, specifically geared for student members of any population-based divisions. This program will award  one $1,000 scholarship to a student member  of APA Women and Planning Division to attend the National Planning Conference (NPC24) in-person, April 13-16, 2024. Hurry!   Considered the “ Nobel Prize ” in air quality achievement, CARB’s Clean Air Awards in honor of Dr. Arie Haagen-Smit have been given annually since 2001 to individuals who have made transformative contributions toward improving air quality and/or addressing climate change. To date, nearly eighty awards have been made in a variety of categories, including: Education; Environmental Justice; International Work (work performed outside of the United States); Policy; Research / Science / Technology.   Nominations are now being accepted for the 2023 Haagen-Smit Clean Air Awards , due by December 19, 2023, 5 p.m. PT – Please nominate your clean air hero ! In 2020, they were responsible for approximately 52% of on-road mobile source oxides of nitrogen (NOx) emissions and 54% of on-road mobile source particulate matter (PM) 2.5 emissions. About 70% of Californians live in areas that exceed the federal ozone and PM 2.5 standards (CARB, 2020d). These emissions pose serious threats to human health and the environment. The Statewide Mobile Monitoring Initiative is part of  California Climate Investments , a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities. CARB is committed to being transparent and responsive to community stakeholders. As such, CARB is utilizing a two-part outreach process to help inform both the technical and engagement aspects of the project.
