Community-Led Recovery: Participatory Budgeting & American Rescue Plan Act

Hi Friends,

The Democracy Beyond Elections coalition (DBE) is launching a campaign to educate stakeholders and support implementation of community-led decision making in the allocation of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). This campaign will build the infrastructure, education, and organizing muscle needed for winning participatory practices with future funds and bills beyond ARPA.

Now, we are excited to support local and state organizations that are currently working to equitably allocate ARPA funds by advocating for participatory budgeting or other participatory democracy practices!

We are offering $1,000 - $10,000 for short term (3 -5 month) contracts to support groups' on the ground efforts to educate community members and decision makers on participatory budgeting and participatory democracy.  The DBE coalition will also offer technical assistance and capacity building opportunities, as well as space to learn about what local groups across the country are doing to expand and transform democracy beyond elections.

Applicants must work in the US and be a 501(c)3 or have fiscal sponsorship by a 501(c)3.  These funds may not be used for lobbying or partisan political activities. You can learn more about our campaign here.

The application will close September 27, at 5:00 pm ET / 2pm PT.  Apply today!
