Zero-Emission Trucks – How Do We Get There?
The California Air
Resources Board (CARB) is currently seeking feedback and suggestions for how
CARB can further encourage commercial vehicle owners to use cleaner
zero-emission trucks, and better support them in this process. We hope to hear
from the people in our State who are impacted by poor air quality and have been
advocating for cleaner transportation and from medium- and heavy-duty truck
owners, especially smaller fleets, who will benefit most from improvements to
funding programs and other resources that CARB is developing to support them.
Staff will be hosting a virtual
listening session on this topic scheduled for Thursday, July 28, 2022,
from 5:00-7:00 PM PT. Spanish interpretation will be provided during the event.

This effort complements other
engagement efforts taking place throughout CARB. Staff have been collecting
comments and working to address what stakeholders have been saying. In this
meeting we hope to build on these comments in
order to help CARB, other California agencies, and local governments strategize
and develop California’s next steps towards a more accessible zero-emission
future. This could include changes to funding programs, more technical
assistance, new training opportunities, improvements to outreach strategies,
suggestions to the California legislature, new policies, programmatic changes,
and more.
CARB staff have already
anticipated the need to offer support to truck fleets in the transition to
zero-emission technologies and have developed several tools and programs that
are intended to provide support. You can find a catalog of these resources on
the Medium- and Heavy-Duty Fleet
Zero-Emission Vehicle Purchasing Support Webpage.
