En español Freight Transport Activities Guidance Documents Available for the 2022 TRU ATCM Amendments New Regulatory Requirements Begin December 31, 2023 On February 24, 2022, CARB adopted amendments (2022 Amendments) to the Airborne Toxic Control Measure for In-Use Diesel-Fueled Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) and TRU Generator Sets, and Facilities Where TRUs Operate (TRU ATCM) to achieve additional emission and health risk reductions from diesel-powered TRUs and increase the use of zero emission technology in the off-road sector. The Haagen-Smit Award is California’s premier award recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions to improving air quality or addressing climate change. Considered the “Nobel Prize” in air quality achievement, the Haagen-Smit Clean Air Awards are bestowed each year upon individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of clean air through education, research, policy, or environmental justice work. The scope of the Haagen-Smit Clean Air Awards program is international, due to the global connections between climate change and air quality. Winners are honored at a Board meeting and reception. Considered the “ Nobel Prize ” in air quality achievement,  CARB’s Clean Air Awards in honor of Dr. Arie Haagen-Smit  have been given annually since 2001 to individuals who have made transformative contributions toward improving air quality and/or addressing climate change. To date,  nearly eighty awards have been made  in a variety of categories, including: Education; Environmental Justice; International Work (work performed outside of the United States); Policy; Research / Science / Technology. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2023 Haagen-Smit Clean Air Awards , due by January 15, 2024, 5 p.m. PT –  Please nominate your clean air hero ! CARB awards $10 million in grants to community-based organizations and California Native American Tribes

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has announced the award of $10 million to 42 local non-profit organizations and California Native American Tribes for projects that focus on air pollution reduction efforts across the state. The Community Air Grant program funds local organizations and California Native American tribes to launch community-driven projects that engage residents and support s grassroots ideas aimed at tackling air pollution issues. This year, the grant program i s funding a new kind of project called a Local Community Emissions Reduction Plan (L-CERP), which encourages community collaboration with local air districts and other government agencies that can help implement proposed air improvement actions prioritized by residents.
