  Community Air Grant Application Deadline Applications must be submitted on March 3, 2023 This is a reminder for the upcoming deadline for the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) Community Air Grants Program (Air Grants Program). Applications are due by March 3, 2023. Hard copy applications must be received by 5PM while electronic applications are due by 11:59 PM on March 3, 2023. Applications will not be accepted after this date. The Environmental Protection Network (EPN) has staff and 550+ EPA alumni volunteers who provide pro bono technical assistance to disadvantaged communities, NGOs, and under-resourced state/local/tribal government agencies. EPN assists in navigating EPA, regulatory processes, federal policies, grant programs, and publicly available data. Areas of volunteer expertise include air, water, toxic substances, hazardous waste, and just about any issue that EPA works on. Volunteers can help review environmental impact statements and permits, provide information on EPA regulations and policies, assist in assembling grants, and more.   Liaisons for Air Monitoring (closes 2/17/23) - California Air Resources Board The Quality Management Branch (Branch) within CARB’s Monitoring and Laboratory Division has an immediate opportunity for friendly and motivated Air Pollution Specialist(s) (APS) to assist with ensuring CARB meets its federally-mandated Primary Quality Assurance Organization (PQAO) responsibilities. The PQAO is responsible for the quality management activities that support California’s ambient air monitoring programs. The APS will provide quality assurance oversight and guidance of the PQAO monitoring organizations to ensure the ambient air monitoring data collected throughout California complies with quality management practices, procedures, and regulations set forth by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA).   The California Air Resources Board (CARB) invites you to participate in a public workshop webinar to discuss the development of a potential regulatory measure that would require fleets to replace their propane and gasoline forklifts with battery-electric or fuel-cell electric versions. This measure is expected to lower emissions of toxic substances and greenhouse gases, and its provisions could benefit disadvantaged communities, especially those with many warehouses and high concentrations of forklift use. We encourage community group involvement in the rulemaking process so that we can better understand how this regulation could impact California communities, and how to best adjust the proposed regulation’s requirements to maximize its benefits.
